According to the annual Mississippi Statewide Accountability report, three Washington County school districts are C-ranked districts.
Hollandale School District, Leland School District and Western Line School District all received C rankings.
Of the 148 school districts in the state, 35 of them are C-rated. Only 9 districts are rated below a C. There are 54 A-rated districts in the state. The Ocean Springs School District is the highest-rated district in the state.
There are 861 schools in the state and 164 are C-rated. There are 123 schools rated lower than C and 294, A-rated schools in the state.
Graduation rates in the three school districts vary with Leland coming in at 75.7%, Western Line at 83.2% and Hollandale with the best graduation rate of 93.9%
Hollandale’s graduation rate is the 26th best in the state while Forest County is the best in the state at 98%.
Leland High School is the highest-rated high school in the county at a B rating. Simmons and O’Bannon are C-rated while Riverside High School is D-rated.
Only one of the schools, Simmons, crosses the 30% reading efficiency barrier. The rest are at 25% or below.
The highest proficiency rating for a single subject matter at the schools is Simmons’ 78.6% efficiency in history. The lowest is Leland’s 22.2% efficiency in reading.
The highest-rated primary school in the county is the Edna M. Scott Elementary School in Leland with a B rating. The C-rated schools are Simmons Jr. High, O’Bannon Elementary, Leland School Park and Sanders Elementary. Riverside Elementary is a D-rated school.
The highest proficiency percentage for a subject matter is Simmons Jr. High at 69.8%. The lowest proficiency in a single-subject matter is Leland School Park’s reading proficiency at 25.2%.
