A male who was spotted on the campus of Mississippi Delta Community College today, apparently carrying a firearm, has been identified and plans to turn himself in to authorities in Humphreys County this afternoon.
According to Sunflower County Sheriff James Haywood, the male, along with a female companion, whom he said is a juvenile, were in route to the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Department at around 2 p.m. on Monday.
The male was videoed on the campus on Monday with what looked like a firearm tucked into his pants pocket. He appeared to approach several individuals and engaged them, but it is not clear what was said during those exchanges.
MDCC communication issued a “shelter in place” warning after the person was reported.
Haywood said there was no report of any shots having been fired while the two were on campus.
