LyWanda L. Wynder, of Leland and formally of Walker, was recently promoted to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CW$) in the United States Army. Wynder enlisted in the Army immediately upon graduation from high school. She started her career as a private supply specialist and worked her way to a staff sergeant before being accepted in to the warrant officer corps.
Her education attainment includes a degree in sociology from Fayetteville State University, warrant officer basic and advance courses, several military supply related classes, as well as common core military training classes.
Wynder has served in several assignments all over the U.S. and overseas. She is currently assigned to the 206th Regional Support Group located in Springfield, Illinois as the Brigade Property Book Officer, and she is in preparation for deployment to Afghanistan.
Wynder is the daughter of Charles and Emma Kirk, of Greenville, and Mr. Lewis Brooks, of Grenada. She is married to ret. Major Rudell M. Wynder, of Hampton, Virgina. She has one son, first Lieutenant KeyShawn L. Lee, who is currently serving in Kuwait, and one daughter, Ryan M. Wynder, who is a junior at Glenwood High School in Chatham, Illinois.
