Coach Lynn Lang and his O’Bannon High School football team have been true Road Warriors to start the season. In their third straight road game, the Greenwaves (2-1) defeated West Bolivar 20-8 (1-2) on Friday night. O’Bannon will have its first home game next Friday against Coahoma County.
“It was a tough and physical game and we came out and competed,” Coach Lang said.
The Greenwaves three touchdowns were scored by sophomore running back Darren Seals (20-yard run), senior Tylan Phillips (30 yard reception from quarterback Chandler Wade) and junior Zavionne Gordan (20-yard run).
“We took control in the second half. We actually could have scored more points. I am pleased with what we have done so far because we have played some string physical teams.”
After Friday’s game, Coach Lang and his players woke up before 5:45 a.m. to drive down to Alcorn State University to attend ‘High School Day’. The Greenwave players will not only get an opportunity to explore the campus, but they will also watch Alcorn State’s football game against the Edward Waters Tigers.
“Anything that we can do to give these kids exposure to college we need to do,” Coach Lang said.
