Nickeling and diming their way to keep pace with a pesky Scott County Central Rebels team in 2A high school baseball action on Saturday, the Riverside Bulldogs took command in the bottom of the fourth inning. Justin Tudor launched a two-run homer over the left field wall to put Riverside up 5-2.
“I thought our hitters made some good adjustments in the game,” said Riverside head coach Boo Ellis. “We stayed patient and started to put the ball in play “
In the bottom of the third inning, Riverside starting pitcher Eric Kingdom came up to the plate with no outs and runners on first and second. He hit a dribbler in front of the opposing catcher and appeared to beat the throw to first base. But he was called out much to the dismay of the home crowd.
“We thought we got a bad call for sure” Ellis said. “But it’s baseball and that’s going to happen. I just told everyone to be patient, stay focused and let me be the emotional one.” Both runners moved up. Riversides next batter grounded out scoring a runner from third to tie the game at 1.
