In his first season playing soccer. Jonahsian Kennedy, the Planters Bank Player of the Week, made an immediate impact for the Greenville High School Hornets this season.
Greenville coach Sean Henry called him one of the key players in the midfield all season long.
“Jonahsian seemed to pick up the game really quickly. By the second game, he looked like he knew how to play. I was especially impressed with his ability to control the ball,” Coach Henry said.
Kennedy, a junior who also plays football and baseball for Greenville, approached the soccer coach last summer about playing for the team. After one season, he is now hooked on the sport
“I watched it on television, and it looked interesting,” Kennedy said. “It is a fast paced game, and it is a lot of fun to play.”
Coach Henry said Kennedy has the potential to be an even better player for the Hornets next season.
“It is fascinating because you see where he is now, and he has come such a long way in a short period of time. But, this is just like any other sport and the common denominator is how much you practice. So, if Jonahsian keeps working on it, he can become an even better player.”
Kennedy has big plans for the future as well. He said he wants to be a computer engineer when he grows up.
He said he was inspired by the impact that Bill Gates and Steve Jobs have made on the world, and he would like to do a similar thing.
