The Greenville High School football team picked up some much needed momentum with a big 18-6 road victory over Gentry on Thursday night to end the Hornets’ season.
Kaleb Titus made two key interceptions in the game and the Hornet offense totaled 286 rushing yards. One of Titus’ interceptions came in the first half in the Greenville endzone the other came in the second half to end a Ram drive. The game was tied 6-6 at halftime.
“It was a very important win for us especially for our seniors who have worked their tails off all season,” Greenville coach George Richardson said. “We didn’t want to go into the offseason on a losing streak.”
Stepping in for an injured Isaiah Green, running back Quintarius Smith led the Greenville rushing attack with 128 rushing yards on 14 carries and one touchdown. Jayden Brooks added 60 yards on five carries. Kaleb Titus had 74 yards on eight carries, and Devon Joseph had 24 yards on six carries.
Quarterback Caleb Brown completed five of his seven passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns.
Kaleb Titus had two catches for 28 yards and one touchdown.
Jayden Brooks had 70 yards receiving and one touchdown.
“We showed a lot of discipline and the kids kept their composure,” Coach Richardson said. “I am giving them a week off and then we will start preparing for next season.”
