Simmons Junior High School Football’s secret weapon, Eddie George, has just been added to the arsenal of one of the Under Armour Next All-America teams.
These top eighth grade student-athletes are determined by 3-Step Sports in conjunction with the Under Armor All-America Middle School Camp Series. The roster is comprised of players who have proven their worth on the gridiron and in the classroom.
George has helped to lead the Simmons Junior High Blue Devils to a perfect 5-0 season.
In five games, George has accumulated at least 400 all purpose yards and eight touchdowns — over a 100 receiving yards with two touchdowns and over 300 rushing yards yielding six touchdowns. In addition to that, George recorded a 53 yard punt return for a touchdown.
Still processing how his success on the field has manifested, George said, "It feels great to be able to play in the Under Armour Game."
He also said that another thing he's looking forward to is playing in the junior high football championship game.
Simmons Junior High head coach, Jarvis Williams pointed out what sets Eddie a part from the average junior high football player. “Eddie has a one of a kind skill set, he’s not only an offensive threat, but also a great defensive guy that loves contact,” he said. “Not only does he excel on the field, but he also excels in the classroom.”
George’s mother, Stacey, said that she was too happy when she found out about his being selected and shared a very honest detail about watching him this season. “It’s been a struggle because he’s broken his collar bone twice,” she said. “I was too happy because I said eventually he would get picked for something, but I just didn’t know what it would be.”
