The St. Joseph Catholic School girls soccer team may not have won the final prize, but the Fighting Irish players still have a lot to be proud about.
The Fighting Irish made it all the way to the MAIS Division III State Championship Tournament.
St. Joe’s season was completed when the Fighting Irish fell in overtime on the road to Kirk Academy Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the the tournament.
“This was a great group of girls to work with. The effort and dedication that they showed all year was tremendous,” St. Joseph coach Jana’ Slay said. “Our team is full of great communicators who help each other out whenever they can.”
The St. Joe coach said a number of her players had outstanding years, including Mary Michael Mahalitc and Caroline Meyer who were both named to the All-District team.
The Fighting Irish success was a also attributed to the fine play of players like Skler Triplett, Ashanti Brown, Emma Kate Threet and May Brooks.
“We had a great season, and we are going to miss our seniors because they all showed great leadership,” Slay said.
