GREENVILLE, Mississippi - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steve Allen Purifoy Jr., age 44, of Greenville, MS, who departed this life on February 3, 2025, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Funeral services were held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 2 p.m. at Mortimer Funeral Home, with visitation preceding the service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Following the service, Steve was laid to rest at Lakeview Gardens.
Steve's life will be honored by his pallbearers: Trey Wright, Chuck Ramsey, Justin Stokes, Trey Horton, Lee Lee Russell, and Demetrius Newson. Tim Allen Hathcock will serve as an honorary pallbearer. Born on January 27, 1981, to Steve and Carla Purifoy in Greenville, Steve was a devoted member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
He found joy and fulfillment in his role as a Maintenance Mechanic at US Gypsum Mill, where he cherished his work and the camaraderie of his colleagues.
Steve is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Carla Purifoy, as well as his maternal grandparents, James and Helen Gordon, and his paternal grandmother, Pearl Tundall Purifoy. He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Mary Wright Purifoy, and two daughters, Alyssa Grace Purifoy and Emma Lynn Purifoy. He is also survived by his siblings: Melissa Hathcock (Chuck Ramsey), Danny Purifoy, and Jamie Purifoy, all of Greenville. he is also survived by his father, Steve Allen Purifoy Sr. His legacy continues through his nieces, Madison Hathcock, Adalynn Chandler, and Aubrey Hathcock; and his nephews, Tim Hathcock, Brent Purifoy, and Kaylob Purifoy.
