AVON — Riverside High School head softball coach Stephen Atkins is back home in Washington County, just in time to see the tremendous growth of many of the girls he used to work with when he was an assistant principal at Riverside Elementary School.

After opening the season with 11 straight victories, the best in Coach Boo Ellis’ more than two decades in coaching, the Riverside High School baseball team suffered its first defeat of the season Tuesday night in a 5-4 loss to Tunica Academy.
