Behind a 20-point performance by senior captain Jamira Scott, the Simmons High School girls basketball team defeated Taylorsville 53-30 Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the MHSAA Class 1A Girls State Basketball Tournament at Clinton High School.

Championship tussle — St. Joseph falls to Manchester in state title game

The St. Joseph Catholic School boys soccer team reached another milestone Monday at Hartfield Academy when they played in the state title game of the MAIS Boys Soccer Division III Championship against Manchester Academy. It was the first time in school history the Fighting Irish had reached the MAIS title game.
