St. Joseph's Jerrian King named Planters Bank Player of the Week

St. Joseph’s Catholic School’s Jerrian King, the Planters Bank Player of the Week, picked up right where he left off Friday night.
In his team’s 55-0 home victory over Riverside High School, King sped through and around one defender after another.

St. Joseph Irish bolt by Riverside Bulldogs

From the opening kickoff, victory was never in doubt for the St. Joseph Catholic School football team Friday night as they defeated visiting Riverside High School 55-0.
Senior speedster Jerrian King led the way for the Irish with three scoring touchdowns, one from a kickoff, one from a punt and one from a reception.

Terdell Causey dedicated his life to helping coach and mentor young athletes in the Delta. He was born and raised in Hollandale and is seen here holding the State Semifinals plaque from the Simmons High School girls basketball team. At the time of his death, Causey was a teacher and coach at Coleman Middle School.

Remembering Coach Terdell Causey, a man who always gave back

Washington County, and all the Delta, lost one of the biggest supporters of youth athletics when Coach Terdell Causey passed away on Aug. 7. Coach Causey was just 43 years old when he died from complications from a stroke, but he had spent more than a lifetime leading young athletes on the basketball courts and athletic fields.
