As coaches and his fellow campsters encouraged him on, 10-year-old Jaxon Knight ran to the pylon at top speed. When he was done and as the sweat dripped from his baseball cap Tuesday morning, Jaxson, a fourth grader at Riverside Elementary, bent down to catch his breath.
