Greenville lit its Christmas tree Monday night, but that’s not all, Schelben Park also got a Christmas makeover. Mary Catherine Brooks, the Chamber Director at Washington County Economic Alliance was almost brought to tears when she saw her handiwork lit up at the park.

Downtown turkey giveaway feeds more than planned

Three days before Thanksgiving Cafe Dat Taste of New Orleans Gave away turkeys for the eighth year in a row.
Kiara and Everett Chinn, owners of the cafe said they advertised the giveaway on social media, but just a little bit.
After all, they only had 20 to giveaway this year.

City Council removes Park Commission

The Greenville Parks Commission board members’ positions have been terminated.

After the commission attempted earlier this week to hire a previous director who was fired for cause, the Greenville City Council used its oversight to terminate the board members.

Mother seeks accountability from school board after her daughter is assaulted

At last Thursday’s Greenville Public School District board meeting, Kiara Chinn, a sous chef at Café Dat Taste of New Orleans and mother of a seventh-grade honor student, stood before the board, seeking justice for her daughter.
Chinn said the girl was assaulted in the gymnasium at T.L. Weston Middle School on Friday, Oct. 18, 2024.
