The Teenette Art & Civic Club recently celebrated another grandeur event, the Cupid Ball. The evening was celebrated with a presentation of the young ladies with their escorts being their father, a brother or a friend. It was a formal affair where the underclass girls wore red formal gowns and the senior member was presented in a white formal gown.
The Teenette members participating in this year’s event include the following: Rylee Ayers, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Henry Ayers, Taylor Ingram, the daughter of Dr. Queeneice Ganison & Mr. Tommy Ingram, Madison Hobbs, the daughter of Ms. Tomeka Hobbs, Madalyn Riley, the daughter of Mrs. Deshanda Riley & Mr. Obbie Riley, Madalyn Staples, the daughter of Mrs. Vondrica Bolden and Mr. Keith Staples, Raelyn Wright, the daughter of Mrs. Ramika Wright & Mr. Stanley Dixon, Asia Johnson, the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Antonio Johnson, Jaria Fulton, the daughter of Ms. Jelmelba Fulton.
The Cupid Ball was a celebration of love and the success of their projects and special programs of the year. The purpose of the club is to foster high moral, intellectual, cultural and spiritual training through community service, personal development workshops and social events. Some of their projects include Nursing Homes visits, Toys for children at Christmas, and Snack Bags for the Homeless. Their monthly meetings provide leadership training, social interaction and youth concerns. Special Awards were presented, the highest being, “Miss Teenette” presented to Jaria Fulton. Other members were recognized for Outstanding Service to the club. Rylee Ayers, “ Miss Congeniality” , 1st Year Promising Award, Taylor Ingram, Rose Hayes Award, Aiden Bethley, Darlene Seard Award, Asia Johnson, Ruby Frisby Award, Madalyn Riley, Bettye Farmer Award, Jari Fulton, Exceptionale Award, Asia Johnson.
