Greenville Arts Council’s 10th annual Student Invitational is less than a month away.
The window of opportunity for all Washington County students in grades pre-k through 12 to put their artistic talents on display for the public to admire will open up Wednesday, April 13 and shut April 14.
Per GAC’s artwork specifications, artwork of any medium, including but not limited to paintings, original prints, drawings, graphics, photographs, ceramics and 3D sculptures may be entered.
And, artwork does not have to be framed or matted to be considered for judging.
To access the full scope of artwork and entry specifications, as well as the student artist entry form, students can visit the GAC website, greenville-arts-council.com/ or contact Sandra Stillman at 662-332-2246.
Students are only allowed to submit one piece of artwork unless they are participating in a group project.
The student art exhibit will be on display for the public to view during weekday hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at E.E. Bass Cultural Arts Center, 323 S. Main St., in the Carousel Pavilion April 21-27.
GAC will also host a reception slated for 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, to commence the opening of the exhibit.
The reception is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
This year, the guest judge is Nancy Stone-Streett — Greenville resident and Montana native.
A GAC press release stated, “Stone-Streett is a prolific painter, printmaker and educator. She is a recipient of the Mississippi Humanities Teacher award from the Mississippi Humanities Council and is presently an art instructor and gallery director at Mississippi Delta Community College.”
