SUNFLOWER, Mississippi – Funeral services for Vergie McKinney, 72, of Sunflower, will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Indianola Christian Church. Visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Byas Funeral Home of Indianola. Burial will follow in Willing Workers Cemetery in Sunflower under the direction of Byas Funeral Home of Indianola, with Pastor Lee Brand Jr. officiating.
She was born on February 19, 1953, and died on December 30, 2025.
She is survived by two sons, Reginald McKinney and Claude McKinney, and one daughter, Oriah Townsend; two daughters, Ronda McKinney-Reed and Kantheia McKinney; two brothers, Tommy Turner and Ray Robinson; and six sisters, Mary Barnett, Clara Turner, Josie Lumpkin, Dorothy Hill, and Mollie Hubbert. She also leaves 10 grandchildren.
