At the last city council meeting Amilia Wicks, the City Clerk said 9 applications to run for James Wilson’s seat in Ward Six were picked up, but only three had been returned.
The seat was vacated after Wilson succumbed to his illness after a long battle.
Wilson was elected to the seat in 2016 and served his community by keeping a close eye on the spending.
Applications can be picked up from the clerk's office and dropped off in the same location. March 18, is the cutoff date to apply for a candidacy spot on the ballot.
After that date, the Delta Democrat-Times will provide the complete list of everyone running for office so the registered voters of Ward Six can make an informed decision on Monday, April 7, 2025.
Voting will be at Greater Springfield M.B. Church, located at 802 Harris Street.
