Libraries throughout Washington County are always welcoming readers, community members and scholars alike.
Now, the Washington County Library System is welcoming and encouraging folks to become members of the Friends of the Library group according to WCLS director Sydney Cobb.
Cobb has endeavored to reestablish the group since taking the helm as director in April 2021 and on last Thursday, announced the group is now active.
“Friends of Libraries are adaptable groups that fit the needs of the communities the library supports. They are made up of volunteers who organize themselves independently to support the WCLS,” Cobb stated. “Friends of the Library members are devoted supporters of the WCLS who help fund enriching, exciting library programs and services.”
He added that Friends of the Library foster a positive relationship between the library and citizens with the intention of building a “lively library and a vibrant community.”
Applications can be picked up and dropped off at any of the WCLS branch locations.
Membership consists of 3 levels:
* Individual - $10 dues per year
* Family - $25 dues per year
* Business/Corporate - $50 dues per year
Those interested in a membership are instructed to call 662-335-2331 for more details.
