Lynette Hamilton has lived on Holmes Street for 67 years, and her home has seen better days.
But thanks to Revels United Methodist Church’s partnership with seven United Methodist Churches from throughout the country, Hamilton’s home looks new.
The group that travels to Greenville to do the humanitarian work has been doing so for 25 years.
This time the men and women who came to work on Hamilton’s house ranged from their first to their twenty-fifth trip.
Most of them come from the small town of Walnut Grove in Minnesota made famous for being named the same as the fictional town from Little House on the Prairie.
But there were also people from Iowa and Nebraska.
John McClay, the man overseeing the project, said Hamilton was chosen by the grace of God.
“We have a list of people, we visit them and pray with them,” McClay said. “But what really puts them ahead is how many options they have.”
Hamilton said she was overwhelmed by the repairs being made by the group.
“I’m beyond excited,” Hamilton said. “I feel so humbled and so blessed.”
