As part of the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation Ag in the Classroom Initiative, Washington County Farm Bureau recently offered local students the opportunity to participate in the 2nd Grade Coloring Contest and the Ag Art Drawing Contest. The goal of these contests is to let students express their creativity while acquiring broader knowledge about agriculture and how it affects their world.
The 2nd Grade Coloring Contest Winner is Emma Darnell from Washington School. Runners-Up are Emmalynn Henry from Washington School and Maggie McIntire from Deer Creek School. Honorable Mention was awarded to Deshond Williams from Boyd Elementary School.
The Ag Art Drawing Contest Division I (grades 4-6) winners are: Sam Ghoulson, Elissa Mae Hankins, and Hall O’Reilly from Washington School and Caryn Jackson and Jaya Gibbs from Lourdes Elementary School. Division II (grades 7-12) winners are: Victor Baker, Fletcher McGaugh, Leonard Murrell, Gabby Wells, and Madelyn McGaugh, all from St. Joe.
The winning pictures for both contests were entered into an 11 county Divisional contest.
