The Greenville Fire Department challenged its firefighters with a Fitness and weight loss contest.
Captain Tommy Ingram, 46 whose been with the Department since 2010 didn’t shy away, even though he’d just recuperated from two major surgeries on his shoulders.
“Recovery time took away my ability to work out as I was used to, and I love a good challenge, so when the department decided to have a 6-week weight loss challenge I was eager to participate.”
On Jan. 15, Ingram weighed in at 246 pounds, the heaviest he’s ever been.
He began to focus on what he would like to change about his lifestyle.
Those changes included Intermittent fasting of at least 16 hours a day, sometimes more, Ingram said.
Intermittent fasting is known to prompt your body into fat-burning mode.
To cut down on the temptations of fast food Ingram had meals prepped for the week.
Ingram’s meals consisted mostly of vegetables, any meats he ate were chicken, turkey, or fish with smaller portions than usual, carbs were limited, but not eliminated since they are a source of energy and aid in digestion.”
Fruit and peanut butter satisfied those sweet tooth cravings with drinks consisting of water and more water.
Exercise and staying active are the keys, Ingram said,
“Every day as my new lifestyle habits were evolving I no longer craved foods that did not fit the new lifestyle, and I continue to stay on this journey.”
The 6-week weight loss challenge consisted of 9 Firefighters. On Feb. 26, my final weight was 217 pounds for a total of 29 pounds, which made me the Weightloss Challenge Champion.
