Greenville police are investing another homicide this week after finding the body of a woman who had not been seen for a few days.
At 5:04 p.m. today, officers with the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the 1000 block of South Colorado Street in reference to a welfare concern for a woman who had not been seen for a few days.
“Concerned citizens advised they had not heard from a neighbor in a few days,” said Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant. “It was also reported the victim had not shown up to work.”
Members of the Greenville Fire Department was also dispatched to force entry into the home, where a 35-year-old black female was found dead inside.
The woman, whose name is not being released due to pending family notification, was found inside and appeared to have suffered several gunshot wounds, according to Merchant.
Emergency medical personnel along with the Washington County Coroner responded and she was pronounced deceased on scene.
“Investigators are currently following up on all leads,” Merchant said.
