Greenville police are investigating this morning’s break-in at the Sportsman that resulted in several missing handguns.
Assistant Greenville Police Chief Michael Merchant said at 4:16 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Sportsman, 1511 Highway 1 S., in reference to a business burglary alarm activation.
Officers found the rear door to the business was damaged.
“Upon arrival, they located a rear door to the business that was damaged and appeared to be a point of entry,” Merchant said.
When a store employee arrived on scene, Merchant said they discovered several handguns were stolen.
Merchant said the Greenville Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are actively following up all leads at this time.
“A person of interest is being sought at this time,” he said.
