Suspect apprehended, deputy released from hospital
Eight Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies were serving a warrant Monday at 6 a.m. in Greenville when Deputy Adam Auger, 38, of Leland, was shot in the abdomen after entering the suspects residence.
Auger was transported to Delta Regional Medical Facility and released after being treated, Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer Sergent Ronald Shive confirmed.
Deputies were able to successfully serve the narcotics related warrant for suspect Jessie Coats, 45, of Greenville.
Coats was arrested without further incident.
District 2 of Mississippi Highway Patrol, Greenwood, is conducting the investigation of the incident.
