Delta Cotton Belles and the Hodding Carter Memorial YMCA have partnered to celebrate breast cancer survivors with the second annual Positively Pink & Proud Breast Cancer Survivors Walk set for Saturday, Oct. 3. This event will be held on the Hodding Carter Memorial YMCA track beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 10 a.m. There is no fee to walk, but donations are welcome.
The Positively Pink & Proud Walk was developed by the Delta Cotton Belles Thrivers group to walk with family and friends in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
“Last year was the premier walk and even with the rain, our Thrivers along with family and friends walked inside the YMCA and had a wonderful time of celebration,” said Angela Phillips, Delta Cotton Belles Thrivers Chairman. “During the pandemic, our group has not been able to meet so we are hoping for nice weather and an opportunity to have some fellowship and fun.”
The non-competitive walk is designed for all to walk at their own pace and as many laps that they feel they can handle. The goal of the event is to highlight the importance of breast health and education as well as to support those ladies that have been on this healing journey. Participants can register the morning of the walk and are encouraged to wear their pink attire. Rain cancels event.
“Delta Cotton Belles is thankful to the YMCA and their amazing team who are partnering with us to have this walk in our Thriver’s honor,” stated Carol Cashion Doolittle, Delta Cotton Belles President.
Join the Delta Cotton Belles and Hodding Carter Memorial YMCA teams and Thrivers Saturday, Oct. 3, at 8 a.m. and walk a mile or sashay in style with the group.
The YMCA is located at 1688 Fairgrounds Road, Greenville.
