A teenager has been arrested and charged for a shooting this week that injured a man at a local store.
Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant said 18-year-old Romeo Hurt, of Greenville, was identified as the suspect who shot into a store in the 900 block of St. Charles Street shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The 59-year-old Asian American victim, whose name has not been released, was inside Kin Mar Grocery at the time of the shooting and was struck in the leg.
“Workers were inside Kin Mar Grocery when a subject walked in and stated someone was shooting. The occupants of the store heard gunshots and took cover,” Merchant said.
Hurt was arrested Friday without incident, Merchant said. Hurt has been charged with aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
His bond was set Monday at $50,000 by Judge Michael Prewitt, which he has not posted as of Tuesday evening.
