The Washington School girls and boys tennis teams both took home the MAIS North State 4A titles on Tuesday in Clarksdale. The team is coached by Jamie Bell and Martin Walker.
The Generals will now play for the state championship next Wednesday in Jackson.
Two Washington School boys singles players, Baker Bush (#1 Boys Singles) and George Walker (#2 Boys Singles) took home North State Championships.
The mixed doubles team of Caroline Horn and Prentiss Doolittle and the doubles team of Maggie Wade & Emelie Walker (Girls Doubles #2) also won North State championships.
All of these players will compete for state titles next week.
With the win Tuesday, Baker Bush remains undefeated this season. Bush won his championship match by winning the third and final set 6-0.
“Baker had a great day. He lost the first set, but he figured it out. He is strong and competitive and he never gives up,” Washington School coach Coach Bell said.
Coach Bell said George Walker also played great on Tuesday to win the Boys #2 title.
“George is very consistent and extremely smart. He can beat you in a lot of different ways.”
