Here’s the results from the 2023 MRAA Championship last Friday and Saturday on Lake Ferguson. Thirty-four boats fished in this year's Championship.
The weather was very rainy on Friday and cold, windy and cloudy most of the day Saturday. Wind was out of the northeast at about 15 mph all day and the temperature dropped all day from the low 60's at takeoff to the low 50's at weigh in.
Out of our 34 boats fishing, 6 boats managed to bring in a four bass limit of Lake Ferguson bass on Friday and only 2 boats were able to catch a limit on Saturday. Only two teams out of the 34 teams fishing were able to bring in a 4-bass limit both days, Mike Jordan and Cliff Payne and Joey Beevers and Bobby Burton.
First place went to the team of Chris Coy and Rudy Vanderford. Chris and Rudy's two-day total of 7-bass weighed 23.01 pounds.
Coming in a close second place was the team of Mike Jordan and Cliff Payne. Mike and Cliff's two day 8-bass weighed 22.60 pounds.
Third place went to the team of Wesley and Jackie Johnson. Wesley and Jackie's two day 6-bass weighed 22.07 pounds which also included the 2nd day tournament lunker of 4.81 pounds.
Fourth place went to the team of Joey Beevers and Bobby Burton. Their 8-bass weighed 18.00 pounds.
Fifth place went to the team of Andy Graves and Jason Lunceford. Their 5-bass weighed 17.31 pounds.
Coming in sixth place was the team of Kenny Vanderford and Trey Hammock. Their 5-bass weighed 15.69 pounds which included the 1st day tournament lunker of 5.70 pounds.
Coming in seventh place was the team of Steve Tullos and Houston Powell. Their 5 -bass weighed 12.83 pounds.
Coming in eight place was the father and son team of Erick Thompson and Patrick Thompson. Their 3-bass weighed 8.93 pounds.
Coming in tenth place and getting the last check was the team of Dakoda Chisolm and Landon Chisolm. Their 3-bass weighed 8.50 pounds. Our total payout for the Championship this year was $18,100. Thank you everyone for fishing. Congratulations to all of the money winners.
