SHELBY —The Riverside boys basketball team soundly punched its ticket into the Region 3-2A Tournament championship game with a 72-48 victory over O’Bannon Thursday night in the semifinals at North Side High School. Riverside advances to Friday night’s championship game where it will face North Side at 8:30 p.m.
Once again, Riverside (16-7) used a balanced scoring attack on Thursday.
Junior Aaron Stewart led the Bulldogs with 22 points and five rebounds. Freshman Jaleel Moore scored 20 points and added three rebounds and three assists. Senior Jordan Wilson had 10 points, eight rebounds. Freshman DJ Gaston had 9 points and three rebounds. Senior Otis Williams scored seven points.
The Bulldogs split two games this season against the North Side Gators. On January 9, North Side defeated Riverside 48-47. Riverside then beat North Side 43-38 on Jan. 26.
“This is going to be a tough game for us,” Riverside head coach Sam Monroe said. “We are going to have to do a good job of limiting their offensive turnovers.”
