Washington School’s Max Morgan is only a freshman but on Saturday Morgan won the state championship in the boys pole vault at the MAIS Class 5A State Track Meet in Jackson.
Morgan’s championship vault of 11 feet and 6 inches was a foot higher than second place finisher Eli Bowman (East Rankin).
Washington School track coach Jack Soddoth said Morgan’s state title was a testament to both his work ethic and his natural athletic ability.
“Max kept working hard and kept getting better all year. I knew he had a chance and he performed well,” Coach Suddoth said.
