What can happen when the needs of a community and the desire to meet those needs intersect?
The Bayer company and Sacred Heart/St. Joseph St. Vincent de Paul Society of Greenville show just what can.
Employees from Bayer’s Scott location recommended Sacred Heart/St. Joseph St. Vincent de Paul Society to receive a $10,000 grant from Bayer Fund, which they were approved to get.
Funds from the grant will be used to provide food and nutrition assistance to the poor and needy residents of Washington County.
President of the Sacred Heart/St. Joseph St. Vincent de Paul Society of Greenville Julice Curry said the organization’s goal is to extend help to the community by providing nutritious food for the needy, poverty stricken and less fortunate citizens of Greenville and the surrounding Washington County area to help make their lives more bearable.
“Our program served 7,611 families comprised of 11,439 individuals in 2018,” Curry said.
Bayer is a world class innovation company that is not only rooted in the advancements of science, but the welfare of mankind and its communities.
Sacred Heart/St. Joseph St. Vincent de Paul Society of Greenville previously received a Bayer Fund grant in 2015 to provide funding for food and nutrition assistance.
This year, Bayer Fund awarded more than $1.4 million through this program to nonprofit organizations in rural communities to help address essential needs in Food & Nutrition, STEM Education and Community Development. Nonprofit organizations across the U.S. have received more than $7 million through this program over the last five years.
“Bayer Fund supports communities where our employees live and work,” said David Horton, Site Lead in Scott. “We’re honored to support Sacred Heart/St. Joseph St. Vincent de Paul Society with this Bayer Fund grant.”
