Business has the potential to be stressful, but Tuesday tonight entrepreneurs, business leaders and company heads will have an opportunity to relax at the annual meeting of Washington County Economic Alliance.
Held at the Washington County Convention center 5:30- 8:30 p.m., the event offers a venue to have a good laugh while building relationships among chamber members.
The Business Showcase & A Taste of Washington County held during the meeting presents guest with an open bar and networking opportunity.
More than 35 chamber businesses have signed up for a booth at the event in hopes of visiting with guest.
“It is an opportunity for members to showcase their business, their products and services,” Cary Karlson, WCEA executive director, said.
The annual meeting brings between 500 to 600 guest each year, and Karlson said he expects a full house again this year.
“This is really an opportunity to meet and visit with others – to network– in a relaxed, fun, entertaining environment,” he said.
Entertainment this year is provided by Leslie Norris Townsend, who delivers agriculture humor from a decidedly different perspective.
In the classic fish-out-of-water tale, Leslie moves from Hollywood to rural Ohio to live and work on her family's 100-year-old farm. She is a very energetic, positive speaker, and promises to entertain everyone.
“Every year we do some type of entertainment for 45 minutes,” Karlson said. “Our theme has been ‘Let’s Grow Together’ and with Leslie’s comedy centered around agriculture, we thought it fit well with what we have been focused on as an organization, as well as be a topic that resonates in our community.”
Fifteen local restaurants will provide samples of food at the meeting.
Karlson said he hopes guest enjoy the food, drink, entertainment and networking.
“We should be finished up by 8:30,” he said. “It is a fun night and a good time.”
