There was a shootout Thursday that resulted in no injuries and sent one man to jail.
Greenville Police Department Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant said at 1:21 p.m. Thursday, officers were dispatched to the 500 block of East Ohea Street in reference to shots fired.
On scene, officers found and arrested one suspect identified as 30-year-old Javoris Alexander, without incident.
Merchtant said investigators with GPD’s Criminal Investigation Division reported two black males got into a verbal altercation about a female.
“The female was a family member to one of the subjects and dating (Alexander),” he said.
During the argument, both men pulled firearms and began to fire at each other, but neither person was struck.
Alexander was arrested Thursday and initially charged with aggravated Assault and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. On Friday, his Aggravated Assault charges were dropped and he had a bond of $5,000 set by Judge Michael Prewitt.
The other subject, who has not been identified by police, has not been arrested.
“We’re still investigating and working to take our paperwork to the judge and see what our next step is,” Merchant said.
