It is officially time to vote for several candidates running for local and state office positions. Polls opened at 7 a.m. until and residents have a chance to vote until 7 p.m.
To cast a ballot, voters must have a valid government-issued photo identification, which can include a driver’s license, a state-issued ID card, a passport, a government employee ID card, a firearms license, a student ID from any Mississippi college, a military ID or a Mississippi Voter identification card.
Aug. 27 runoffs will be held in any races where a candidate doesn’t get a majority Tuesday, while winners move on to the general election, which will take place to the Nov. 5.
