LELAND — A Leland man is behind bars after turning himself in to the Leland Police Department for burglary and breaking and entering.
Officers with the Leland Police Department began seeking the public’s help Tuesday morning to locate 30-year-old Qartavius Moton, of Leland, who was wanted for breaking into a woman’s home Aug. 20 and breaking two of her televisions.
Leland Police Department investigator Charles Dones said the woman’s home he broke into was someone he had dated and was upset because she wouldn’t meet with him.
“They were dating each other off and on. He wanted her to meet with him and she wouldn’t meet with him and he became irate,” Dones said.
When Moton arrived at the woman’s house, Dones said he forced entry at the front door. Once inside, Moton allegedly broke one TV and left with another. The stolen TV was found damaged in front of the woman’s mother’s home.
Dones said no one had reported seeing Moton since Aug. 20 after he fled the scene.
After Moton turned himself in to police, Dones said he was transported to the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility.
“He’ll see a judge tomorrow,” Dones said, noting his charges currently include burglary and breaking and entering.
