Tripp Stevens, Javeon Easley and Noah Signa are only seven years old, but all three of them played so well this year in the Under-8 Baseball League at the Delta Sportlspex that they have been named to the All-Star Team.
Tripp Sanders plays for the SEC Shockers. Javeon Easley plays for the World Class Cubs, and Noah Signa plays for the Greenville Little Truck Crushers.
Jason Oswalt, who coaches the Crushers, said all three of these players have stepped up and played well against the older players in the league.
“All three of them did a great job,” Oswalt said.
Tripp, Javeon and Noah will also be representing the league as All-Stars at the state tournament in Hernando later this month.
Judging by the success of the teams from the Delta Sportsplex this season, the All-Stars should give the rest of the state all it can handle. Heading into the last week of games, the Shockers and Crushers are tied with 7-2 records.
Players like Bryce Poole of the Crushers and Warren Signa of the Doe’s Eat Place Bulldogs have helped their teams tremendously. In fact, Coach Oswalt estimates that the two have combined for 15 inside-the-park home runs this season.
“This will be our first All-Star tournament, but we feel like we have some great players who can go out there and compete,” Coach Oswalt said. “We love travel ball, and this gives the kids some more chances to play.”
Oswalt said he hopes the All-Star team can keep the players together, as well.
“The hope is that these players will one day be teammates on a great high school team.”
