1.) COVID-19 shuts down Mississippi, Greenville

In March, Washington County recorded its first death from COVID-19. Schools were closed and remained so until the end of 2019-2020 school year for most after the Spring Break.

Blues musician, Greenville native Kern Pratt dies at 55

A Mississippi Delta native who loved to perform at home, blues musician Kern Pratt died Dec. 24 in Jackson at age 55.

Pratt died from complications of COVID-19.

While the virus may have ended his life, it couldn’t take away his joy in playing music, according to local blues artist and longtime friend Eden Brent.

Longtime photographer, friend of Greenville, Bill Johnson dies

William McKinley “Bill” Johnson would have hated this.

He would have hated the attention and the photo of him on the front page of the newspaper.

As he often said, he felt he should be taking the pictures and not the subject of them.

But he deserves it and many volumes more.
