O’Bannon junior Maurice Thornton caught the game-winning catch from quarterback Chandler Wade in overtime to lift the road warrior Waves to their first victory of the season in a 14-8 win over West Tally.
“I am proud of my kids, and we always expect to win,” O’Bannon (1-1) head coach Lynn Lang said.

St. Joseph Fighting Irish fight hard in road loss to Jackson Prep

The visiting Class 4A St. Joseph Fighting Irish (1-1) stayed with the Class 6A Jackson Prep (3-0) Patriots for much of the game, but in the end, the Patriots’ numbers proved to be too much.
Jackson Prep had 83 players dress out for the game Friday night compared to the Fighting Irish’s 27 players.

GCS Saints notch first big win

The Greenville Christian School Saints defeated West Bolivar 40-0 Friday night for their first victory of the season.
Greenville Christian’s Kingston Grant and Trey Rhodes each scored a pair of touchdowns to help the GCS cause.
Tae Miles also had a 35-yard rushing touchdown for the Saints.
